Musical Events:

We are fortunate to have many opportunities to hear live music in this area.  Exposure to many types of music at young ages can have a profound effect on a student's lifetime musical development.  The following are links to other websites that list musical events. I hope you will check them out and go out and hear live music.

New Jersey Symphony                                                  Shanghai Jazz

Kids Guide                                                                      NJPAC

Philharmonic Orchestra of New Jersey                           Arts Maplewood

Maplewood Underground Concert Series

Makeup Policy:

  • Students pay during the first week of the month for that month.
  • All missed lessons with advanced notice will be made up at a mutually convenient time.
There is, howeve, A MAXIMUM OF 5 MAKEUPS PER STUDENT for the school year. Any missed lessons beyond that will not be made up and not refunded.
  • Lessons missed without advance notice will not be made up and not refunded, unless this happens due to unavoidable circumstances.

Tuning Policy:

Students or their parents are required to keep their piano IN TUNE.  Regardless of how nice a piano may look, it may still be badly out of tune.  The piano student who hears only out of tune notes will have a much harder time developing a good musical ear.  If you need a tuner, Dan can recommend someone to you.

Message to Parents:

In making it possible for your child to play a musical instrument, you are providing the opportunity for self-expression, creativity, and achievement.  Numerous studies indicate that parental attitude, support and involvement are important factors in a child's ability to successfully learn to play and to enjoy music.

How you fit in

Always keep in mind that your support is a key element in your child's success with music study.  Music achievement requires effort over a period of time.

You can help your child by:

  • Providing a quiet place in which to practice.
  • Remaining nearby during practice times as often as possible.
  • Scheduling a consistent, daily time for practice.
  • Praising your child's efforts and achievements.
